The kindness of Strangers--
OK-
So on my first test ride in Boulder, riding up Four Mile Canyon Rd., not too much of a slope, a 5-6 % grade, feeling pretty good about it all- with no warning, my rear derailleur snapped off- oh no!
There is no way to ride a bike like that.
I waited a minute for my brother to come up & as we pondered what in the world to do- a driver - Ellie, who works with Wilderness Women International ( or something like that), came up & asked if she could help. This being Boulder- one of the cycling capitals of the world, she had a bike rack on the car & in a minute I was zipping down the road to the local bike shop- which is Bicycle Village (go there whenever you're in Boulder!!!)
They were able to get replacement parts from a local supplier here & had me back on the road in good time. Had I been nearly anywhere else- this could have meant a very long wait for parts-- and who knows what I'd be doing now.
Thanks to the kindness of strangers- I was just now out on the road for a good 28 mile loop, testing things out again, (my derailleur set up, for sure- but most of all- me), and I'm ready to head down to Golden for my Big Bike Tour orientation this afternoon.
Remember- Bicycle Village- a great place for all things Bicycle!!
